Hydroboration
The use of CO2 as C1 building block for chemical synthesis is receiving growing attention, due to the potential of this simple molecule as abundant and cheap renewable feedstock. Among the possible reductants used in the literature to bring about CO2 reduction to C1 derivatives, hydroboranes have found various applications, in the presence of suitable homogenous catalysts. The main results obtained since 2016 in the synthetic design of main group, first and second row transition metals for use as catalysts for CO2 hydroboration are summarized.

Two-Photon Absorbing Dendrimers
Dendrimers, arborescent macromolecules exhibiting a large number of functional groups at their surface, appeared as naturally attractive targets to consider as TPA chromophores. Indeed, dendrimers are a special kind of perfectly defined hyperbranched polymers constructed stepwise from a multifunctional core at the periphery of which can be grafted a large density and variety of chromophores.

Laccase
Enzymes play an important role in numerous natural processes and are increasingly being utilized as environmentally friendly substitutes and alternatives to many common catalysts. Both horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and laccase are most often utilized for the formation of enzyme aggregates due to their ability to rapidly oxidize phenols, generating phenoxy radicals which undergo radical coupling to form biphenyl or phenyl ether linkages.

Natural and Synthetic Antifouling Flavonoids
Marine biofouling is a major concern for the maritime industry, environment, and human health. Considering that biocides currently used in marine coatings to prevent this phenomenon are toxic to the marine environment, the search for antifoulants with environmentally safe properties is needed. Some natural and synthetic flavonoids have been evaluated over the last few years for their potential to prevent the settlement and/or the growth of marine organisms on submerged structures, thereby preventing marine biofouling.

Deep Eutectic Systems as Alternative Solvents
Chemists in the medicinal chemistry field are constantly searching for alternatives towards more sustainable and eco-friendly processes for the design and synthesis of drug candidates. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most polluting industries, having a high E-factor, which is driving the adoption of more sustainable processes not only for new drug candidates, but also in the production of well-established active pharmaceutical ingredients. Deep eutectic systems (DESs) have emerged as a greener alternative to ionic liquids, and their potential to substitute traditional organic solvents in drug discovery has raised interest among scientists.

Stereoselective Catalytic Synthesis of Bioactive Compounds in NADESs
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are a mixture of two or more components, and at a particular composition, they become liquids at room temperature. When the compounds that constitute the DESs are primary metabolites namely, amino acids, organic acids, sugars, or choline derivatives, the DESs are called natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs).

Pillar[

]arene-Based Supramolecular Polymers
Supramolecular chemistry enables the manipulation of functional components on a molecular scale, facilitating a “bottom-up” approach to govern the sizes and structures of supramolecular materials. Using dynamic non-covalent interactions, supramolecular polymers can create materials with reversible and degradable characteristics and the abilities to self-heal and respond to external stimuli. Pillar[n]arene represents a novel class of macrocyclic hosts, emerging after cyclodextrins, crown ethers, calixarenes, and cucurbiturils. Its significance lies in its distinctive structure, comparing an electron-rich cavity and two finely adjustable rims, which has sparked considerable interest.

Vanillin Production from Lignin
Vanillin, one of the most widely used and appreciated flavoring agents worldwide, is the main constituent of vanilla bean extract, obtained from the seed pods of various members belonging to the Orchidaceae family. Due to the great demand in the food confectionery industry, as well as in the perfume industry, medicine, and more, the majority of vanillin used today is produced synthetically, and only less than one percent of the world’s vanilla flavoring market comes directly from the traditional natural sources. The increasing global demand for vanillin requires alternative and overall sustainable new production methods, and the recovery from biobased polymers, like lignin, is an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical synthesis.

Industrial Applications of Microfluidic Systems
With the proliferation of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology, the syntheses of microfluidic devices or microdroplets have become increasingly important as tools for chemical analysis and synthesis. Microfluidic devices (microreactors, microchemical chips, etc.) that integrate the functions of chemical synthesis, analysis equipment, and chemical plants in a compact form are being investigated.
