Methods and Techniques for CO2 Capture
With the increase in electricity consumption around the world, electricity demands are increasing every day. During electricity generation using energy technologies based on fossil fuels, the emission of harmful pollutants into the environment (gaseous, liquid, and solid) occurs as the emission of NOx, SOx, dust, CO2, and wastewater (e.g., from flue-gas treatment installations). A great deal of effort in modern low-emission energy technologies was directed at activities leading to decreased gaseous pollutant emissions. The emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), treated as one of the main reasons for global warming when fossil fuel is burned, cannot be avoided. The carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) methods and technologies are among the many ways to reduce CO2 emissions.

Construction Social and Economic Sustainability Impacts
Sustainable development aims to reduce negative environmental impacts while creating beneficial social and economic impacts. While there has been extensive research on the negative environmental impacts of construction, less work has been done on the social and economic benefits. In developing countries with high levels of unemployment and inequality, it is crucial to understand how beneficial impacts can be created to respond to local challenges. This entry reviews the economic and social benefits that can be created through construction. It shows social and economic sustainability indicators can be developed and specific targets set to achieve improved sustainability. It will be of interest to government officials, developers, contractors, researchers and built environment professionals wishing to understand how beneficial social and economic impacts can be created through construction.

Local Content in Construction
In the construction industry, local content refers to materials and products made in a country as opposed to those that are imported. There is an increasing interest in the concept of local content as this is seen as a means of supporting improved sustainability performance by avoiding negative environmental impacts such as waste and carbon emissions and supporting beneficial impacts such as local economic growth and creating new entrepreneurs and jobs.

Energy Efficiency in Buildings: Performance Gaps and Sustainable Materials
Real-world energy efficiency in the building sector is currently inadequate due to significant discrepancies between predicted and actual building energy performance. As operational energy is optimized through improved building envelopes, embodied energy typically increases, further exacerbating the problem. This gap underscores the critical need to re-evaluate current practices and materials used in energy-efficient building construction. It is well established that adopting a life cycle view of energy efficiency is essential to mitigate the building sector’s contribution to rising global energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Therefore, this study aims to examine existing research on sustainable building materials for life cycle energy efficiency. Specifically, it reviews recent research to identify key trends, challenges, and suggestions from tested novel materials. A combination of theoretical analysis and narrative synthesis is employed in a four-stage framework discussing the challenges, context, concepts, and the reviewed literature. Key trends include the growing adoption of sustainable materials, such as bio-fabricated and 3D printed materials, which offer improved insulation, thermal regulation, and energy management capabilities. Multifunctional materials with self-healing properties are also emerging as promising solutions for reducing energy loss and enhancing building durability. The focus on reusing materials from the agricultural, food production, and paper manufacturing industries in building construction highlights the opportunity to facilitate a circular economy. However, the challenges are substantial, with more research required to ascertain long-term performance, show opportunities to scale the implementation of these novel materials, and drive market acceptance.

State-of-the-Art Power Factor Correction: An Industry Perspective
On 1 January 2001, the IEC 61000-3-2 regulation became effective. Since then, mitigating current harmonics has been essential to ensure that electronic equipment connected to single-phase power distribution lines conforms to electromagnetic compatibility directives. Today, high-quality rectification, commonly known as power factor correction (PFC), is a well-established technique widely adopted by the industry for powering various devices from the ac line. The topic has been studied by academia and industry since the mid-1980s; thus, an enormous amount of research has been published and countless solutions have been proposed since then. However, only a few of those solutions have encountered wide industrial usage. So, it is not the authors’ intention to provide a comprehensive review, but to take stock of the most used PFC techniques from an industry perspective. This paper will review the power factor theory with non-sinusoidal currents, the practical and regulatory aspects of using PFC, and the most common industry solutions for power factor correction in equipment operated from the single-phase, public, low-voltage supply system, with a special focus on boost PFC pre-regulators, their control methods, design procedures, and issues.

Steganography and Steganalysis in VoIP
The rapid advance and popularization of VoIP (Voice over IP) has also brought security issues. VoIP-based secure voice communication has two sides: first, for legitimate users, the secret voice can be embedded in the carrier and transmitted safely in the channel to prevent privacy leakage and ensure data security; second, for illegal users, the use of VoIP Voice communication hides and transmits illegal information, leading to security incidents. Therefore, in recent years, steganography and steganography analysis based on VoIP have gradually become research hotspots in the field of information security. Steganography and steganalysis based on VoIP can be divided into two categories, depending on where the secret information is embedded: steganography and steganalysis based on voice payload or protocol. The former mainly regards voice payload as the carrier, and steganography or steganalysis is performed with respect to the payload. It can be subdivided into steganography and steganalysis based on FBC (fixed codebook), LPC (linear prediction coefficient), and ACB (adaptive codebook). The latter uses various protocols as the carrier and performs steganography or steganalysis with respect to some fields of the protocol header and the timing of the voice packet. It can be divided into steganography and steganalysis based on the network layer, the transport layer, and the application layer. Recent research results of steganography and steganalysis based on protocol and voice payload are classified in this paper, and the paper also summarizes their characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. The development direction of future research is analyzed. Therefore, this research can provide good help and guidance for researchers in related fields.

A Process Synthesis and Intensification Framework
This Process Synthesis and Intensification (PS+I) framework uses a low-aggregation superstructure to solve the synthesis problem, and its solution is interpreted and translated into a task-integrated intensified process. Then, the process is post-optimized to find a better balance between operation and equipment costs. The solution leads to novel and counterintuitive intensified processes with low cost and energy requirements.
