Antibacterial Electroconductive Composite Coating of Cotton Fabric
Graphene oxide (GO) was deposited on a cotton fabric and then thermally reduced to reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with the assistance of L-ascorbic acid. The GO reduction imparted electrical conductivity to the fabric and allowed for electrochemical deposition of Ag° particles using cyclic voltammetry. Only the Ag°/rGO composite coating imparted antibacterial properties to the fabric against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Ag°/rGO-modified fibers were free of bacterial film, and bacterial growth inhibition zones around the material specimens were found. Moreover, Ag°/rGO-modified fabric became superhydrophobic with WCA of 161°. The obtained results on composite Ag°/rGO coating of the fabric seem to be promising for obtaining novel antibacterial materials.

Antibacterial Polymer Composite Materials
The escalating presence of pathogenic microbes has spurred a heightened interest in antimicrobial polymer composites tailored for hygiene applications. These innovative composites ingeniously incorporate potent antimicrobial agents such as metals, metal oxides, and carbon derivatives. This integration equips them with the unique ability to offer robust and persistent protection against a diverse array of pathogens. By effectively countering the challenges posed by microbial contamination, these pioneering composites hold the potential to create safer environments and contribute to the advancement of public health on a substantial scale.

Antibacterial Properties of Diverse Cellulose-Based Hydrogels
Pathogens, especially drug-resistant pathogens caused by the abuse of antibiotics, have become a major threat to human health and public health safety. The exploitation and application of new antibacterial agents is extremely urgent. As a natural biopolymer, cellulose has recently attracted much attention due to its excellent hydrophilicity, economy, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. In particular, the preparation of cellulose-based hydrogels with excellent structure and properties from cellulose and its derivatives has received increasing attention thanks to the existence of abundant hydrophilic functional groups (such as hydroxyl, carboxy, and aldehyde groups) within cellulose and its derivatives. The cellulose-based hydrogels have broad application prospects in antibacterial-related biomedical fields.

Antibacterial-Based Hydrogel Coatings
The antibacterial hydrogel coating interacts with organic and inorganic components as a biocompatible surface modifier, and the coating acts as a buffer between biomaterials and human tissues, making the biphasic interface of the material more stable and flexible and meeting the various needs of human tissue repair. The two key advantages of hydrogel coatings are as follows: Firstly, the coating can be firmly attached to the surface through chemical crosslinking and various anchoring reactions. Secondly, the coatings can attach to almost all kinds of materials, such as precious metals, oxides, polymers, and ceramics. Hydrogel coatings have excellent prospects for application, simple processing, stable performance, and wide application. The current research difficulties include the following: Firstly, the preparation method of antibacterial hydrogel coatings needs to be improved. Although the graft density of surface-initiated graft crosslinking polymerization is high, the initiator needs to be grafted to the surface, and the preparation process is relatively complex. The method of fixing the hydrogel coating to the substrate surface may result in uneven coverage of the hydrogel coating to the substrate surface due to the steric hinderance of the graft chain. Secondly, greater attention should be given to the study of the chemical stability of hydrogel coatings, including swelling, durability, degradability, mechanical properties, etc., which are important for the long-term effect of antibacterial hydrogel coatings on the human body. For example, swelling could be a problem for the coating of tubular medical devices, as the large swelling degree of hydrophilic hydrogels might block the tube. Finally, sterilization has been reported as an issue for most hydrogel coatings.

Antibiotics Extraction from Shrimps Prior to Chromatographic Analysis
Antibiotics are used in aquaculture in order to control the infection outbreaks. They are natural, semisynthetic or synthetic compounds and their antibacterial effect resides on their ability to eliminate the bacteria or hinder their growth. The widespread use of antibiotics in veterinary practice and aquaculture has led to the increase of antimicrobial resistance in food-borne pathogens that may be transferred to humans.

Antibiotics in Poultry Production
The utilization of antibiotics in feed has been reevaluated since bacterial pathogens have established and shared a variety of antibiotic resistance mechanisms that can easily be spread within microbial communities. Multiple countries have introduced bans or severe restrictions on the non-therapeutic use of antibiotics. Since the use of antibiotics may have a positive influence on poultry performance, excessive use as growth promoters harms human health. This has therefore warranted the urgent need for alternatives.

Antibiotics-Coated Gold Nanoparticles to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become an alarming threat to the successful treatment of rapidly growing bacterial infections because of the abuse and misuse of antibiotics. Traditional antibiotics bear many limitations including restricted bioavailability, inadequate penetration and the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms. Recent advances in nanotechnology for the introduction of nanoparticles with fascinating physicochemical characteristics have been predicted as an innovative means of defence against antimicrobial-resistant diseases. The use of nanoparticles renders several benefits including improved tissue targeting, better solubility, improved stability, enhanced epithelial permeability and minimal side effects.

Anticancer effects of Coumarin Sulfonamides
Coumarin is an important six-membered aromatic heterocyclic pharmacophore, widely distributed in natural products and synthetic molecules. The versatile and unique features of coumarin nucleus, in combination with privileged sulfonamide moiety, have enhanced the broad spectrum of biological activities. The research and development of coumarin, sulfonamide-based pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry have become active topics, and attracted the attention of medicinal chemists, pharmacists, and synthetic chemists. Coumarin sulfonamide compounds and analogs as clinical drugs have been used to cure various diseases with high therapeutic potency, which have shown their enormous development value. The diversified and wide array of biological activities such as anticancer, antibacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant and anti-viral, etc. were displayed by diversified coumarin sulfonamides.

Anticancer Effects of Royal Jelly
Royal jelly (RJ) is produced by the hypopharyngeal and mandibular salivary glands of young nurse honeybees. RJ contains bioactive substances, such as carbohydrates, protein, lipids, peptides, mineral salts and polyphenols which contribute to the appreciated biological and pharmacological activities. Antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antibacterial impacts are among the well-recognized benefits. The combination of RJ or its constituents with anticancer drugs has synergistic effects on cancer disorders, enhancing the drug’s effectiveness or reducing its side effects.

Anticancer Profile of Rhodanines
The rhodanine derivatives are small compounds with a broad spectrum of biological activities; they are used as antimicrobial, antiviral, antitubercular, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antitumor agents. In the pharmaceutical market, epalrestat (rhodanine-3-acetic acid) has been marketed in Japan since 1992 for treatment of diabetic complications (peripheral neuropathy). Epalrestat is an inhibitor of aldose reductase, the key enzyme in the polyol pathway of glucose metabolism under hyperglycemic conditions. The good clinical safety profile of epalrestat justified the interest of the researchers in rhodanines as potential drug candidates.
