Created by American physical chemist Gilbert Newton Lewis in 1916, these Lewis structures allow us to visualize how ionic and covalent bonds are formed through the process of election transfer or sharing. In this video I show how to properly draw ionic compounds and covalent compounds that may require either double or triple bonds. Included in this video are concepts such as dot diagrams, Incomplete Valence Energy Level (underfilled octets), Expanded Valence Energy Level (overfilled octets), and coordinate covalent bonds.
