Periodic trends are specific patterns in the properties of elements within the periodic table. These properties affect how elements will react with one another, and thus explain why elements in a particular group react similarly. In this lecture I cover the periodic trends that relate to atomic radius, ionization energy and electron affinity. Included in this video are concepts relating to isoelectronic states, element reactivity, and the differences between first, second, and third ionization energies.
