Cardiovascular Risk Factors on the Course of COVID-19
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is spreading around the world and becoming a major public health crisis. All coronaviruses are known to affect the cardiovascular system. There is a strong correlation between cardiovascular risk factors and severe clinical complications, including death in COVID-19 patients. All the above-mentioned risk factors are widespread and constitute a significant worldwide health problem. Some of them are modifiable and the awareness of their connection with the COVID-19 progress may have a crucial impact on the current and possible upcoming infection.

Biomarkers in Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease (AD), as the main cause of dementia, affects millions of people around the world, whose diagnosis is based mainly on clinical criteria. Unfortunately, the diagnosis is obtained very late, when the neurodegenerative damage is significant for most patients. Therefore, the exhaustive study of biomarkers is indispensable for diagnostic, prognostic, and even follow-up support.

Cellular Function of STRNs and the STRIPAK Complex
Striatins (STRNs) are generally considered to be cytoplasmic proteins, with lower expression observed in the nucleus and at cell–cell contact regions. Together with protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), STRNs form the core region of striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complexes through the coiled-coil region of STRN proteins, which is crucial for substrate recruitment. STRNs and the constituent members of the STRIPAK complex have been found to regulate several cellular functions, such as cell cycle control, cell growth, and motility.

The Role of IL-23 Inhibitors in Crohn’s Disease
Promoting a Th17 pathogenic response, the interleukin (IL)-23 pathway is crucial in the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). With a favorable safety profile, ustekinumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the shared p40 component of IL-12/23, is currently approved for the treatment of IBD in patients with disease refractory to corticosteroids and biologic drugs. Risankizumab, mirikizumab, and guselkumab are specific IL-23p19 antagonists tested for the treatment of Crohn’s disease (CD). However, only risankizumab currently has been approved for its treatment. Trials with guselkumab and mirikizumab are currently ongoing, with promising preliminary efficacy and safety results.

Approaches for Atrial Fibrillation Detection
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is a Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) characterized by the uncoordinated activity of the heart chambers, with the atria exhibiting irregular and high-rate electrical activity. Autoencoders (AEs) can be used as an automatic feature extraction tool, tailoring the resulting features to a specific classification task. By coupling an encoder to a classifier, it is possible to reduce the dimension of the Electrocardiogram (ECG) heartbeat waveforms and classify them.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Vitamin D
Vitamin D metabolism manifests significant changes in pregnant women in comparison to the non-pregnant state, but several questions about the role of vitamin D in pregnancy remain unanswered. Vitamin D deficiency has been reported among pregnant women and nursing mothers globally, constituting a risk group for vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy has been associated not only with pregnancy outcomes but also with the posterior physical and mental health of the offspring.
