Chemical Treatment for Textile Waste
Trends in the textile industry show a continuous increase in the production and sale of textile materials, which in turn generates a huge amount of discarded clothing every year. This has a negative impact on the environment, on one side, by consuming resources—some of them non-renewables (to produce synthetic polymers)—and on the other side, by polluting the environment through the emission of GHGs (greenhouse gases), the generation of microplastics, and the release of toxic chemicals in the environment (dyes, chemical reagents, etc.). When natural polymers (e.g., cellulose, protein fibers) are used for the manufacturing of clothes, the negative impact is transferred to soil pollution (e.g., by using pesticides, fertilizers). In addition, for the manufacture of clothes from natural fibers, large amounts of water are consumed for irrigation. According to the European Environment Agency (EEA), the consumption of clothing is expected to increase by 63%, from 62 million tonnes in 2019 to 102 million tonnes in 2030.

Due to its characteristics, fresh fish is a highly perishable food with a very short shelf-life under refrigeration. Several methods have been introduced to slow down its deterioration, such as by means of oxygen depletion of the food package (vacuum packaging), or by changing the natural atmosphere that is in contact with the fresh fish (modified atmosphere packaging), or by the use of chemicals generally recognized as safe: such compounds can be directly applied (by dipping or spraying) or incorporated into packaging materials and slowly migrate to the product, exerting a hurdle effect against microbial development and lipid oxidation (active packaging).

It was invented by Wilson and Kent in 1969 and successfully introduced into clinical practice in 1972. Chemically activated GICs, commonly referred to as conventional GICs, typically consist of ion-leachable glasses based on calcium or strontium alumino-fluorosilicate and weak polymeric water-soluble acids of polyacrylic acid (PAA) homopolymer, or acrylic acid, maleic/itaconic acid copolymer. They set by an acid-base reaction, and the setting reaction is initiated by mixing glass powder and polymeric acids.

However, some patients experience concerning adverse reactions or have an inadequate response to treatment. Analytical chromatographic techniques, among other techniques, are valuable tools for investigating medication complications, including those associated with antidepressants. Nevertheless, there is a growing need to address the limitations associated with these techniques. In recent years, electrochemical (bio)sensors have garnered significant attention due to their lower cost, portability, and precision. Electrochemical (bio)sensors can be used for various applications related to depression, such as monitoring the levels of antidepressants in biological and in environmental samples. They can provide accurate and rapid results, which could facilitate personalized treatment and improve patient outcomes.

Chemiluminescence Detection/Quantification of Haloaromatic Compounds
Polyhaloaromatic compounds (XAr) have been found world-wide in pesticides, pharmaceuticals, flame retardants and personal care products. Most of these compounds are persistent and widely existing in the environment because of their recalcitrant properties in the soil and water.  They are potentially carcinogenic to organisms and may induce serious risks to the ecosystem. Therefore, it is important to detect and quantify these ubiquitous XAr in the environment, and to monitor their degradation kinetics during the treatment of these recalcitrant pollutants. Chemiluminescence (CL) is a kind of light emission from complicated chemical reactions, during which high-energy excited-states can be generated and energy is released. CL analysis can be used to detect and quantify the specific compounds that determine the generation of CL emission. It has been recently discovered that unprecedent CL emission could be produced during the degradation of XAr mediated by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and a novel, rapid and sensitive CL-based analytical method was developed to not only detect XAr, but also monitor their degradation kinetics. For this distinct CL-based analytical method on the detection and measurement of XAr, it exhibits the excellent properties of relatively simple, rapid, sensitive, without complicated pretreatment.

Cheminformatic of Natural Antimicrobial Products
The growing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of pathogenic organisms to currently prescribed drugs has resulted in the failure to treat various infections caused by these superbugs. Therefore, to keep pace with the increasing drug resistance, there is a pressing need for novel antimicrobial agents, especially from non-conventional sources. Several natural products (NPs) have been shown to display promising in vitro activities against multidrug-resistant pathogens. Still, only a few of these compounds have been studied as prospective drug candidates. Drug developers are employing different modern strategies to overcome the challenges. These current drug discovery and design strategies can computationally identify potential liabilities and optimize hit compounds to impact desired drug-like properties prior to expensive synthesis and pre-clinical experiments. In addition, it can computationally process a large set of compounds from virtual combinatorial libraries and high-throughput screening to guide rational decision-making in drug discovery and development. This technique of processing large chemical bioactivity data is called cheminformatics.
