On May 10, 1940, Germany bypassed the Maginot Line, launched a surprise attack on France, and completely defeated France within the next 43 days. On the same day, Winston Churchill was urgently appointed as the British Prime Minister.

May 10th is also a day of triumph, a day of unity! On May 10, 1994, South Africa abolished its apartheid policy and held its first truly democratic nationwide elections, and Nelson Mandela entered the stage of history.
