On April 19, 1882, British naturalist and biologist Charles Robert Darwin died, who is widely known for his contributions to evolutionary biology. Darwin proposed that all living organisms were connected through a process that he called “natural selection". According to this system, the fittest individuals of a species survived and passed on their advantageous traits to future generations, while the least fit ones perished.
The publication On the Origin of Species was revolutionary, it challenged long-held beliefs about the origins of life and human existence.
