Grid-integrated renewable energy resources fundamentals
This entry is aimed at a succinct review of practical impacts of grid integration of renewable energy systems on effectiveness of power networks. The renewable energy resources focused on include solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy and geothermal energy, as well as renewable hydrogen/fuel cells, which, although not classified purely as renewable resources, are a famous energy carrier vital for future energy sustainability. Although several world energy outlooks have suggested that the renewable resources available worldwide are sufficient to satisfy global energy needs in multiples of thousands, the different challenges often associated with practical exploitation have made this assertion an illusion to date. Thus, more research efforts are required to synthesize the nature of these challenges as well as viable solution strategies, hence, the need for this review study. Overviews and general state-of-the-art information are provided in this entry, for the aforementioned renewable energy resources.

Gridshell Nodes
Gridshells are shells where the structural members form a grid of linear elements rather than a continuous surface. Nodes are essential parts of a gridshell regarding structural performance, assembly and visual appearance. Due to the many decisions to be made when designing gridshells, including global shape, topology, cross-sections, material selection and node designs, detailed structural analysis of gridshell nodes is often left to later stages of the project. Getting feedback on the structural performance of gridshell nodes is inefficient due to software changes and geometry conversion, and it is hard to find tools that support early integration between architectural design and structural design.

Gripping Part of Products
Computational method to optimize design of gripping part of products requires a grasping motion simulation using a computational model and an optimization method based on the simulation. A grasping motion simulation method based on finite element analysis has been developed for the virtual evaluation of gripping comfort. The validity of the grasping motion simulation was verified by comparing the contact pressure distribution generated on the palm of a hand using a finite element model with the measured result obtained via experiments on a human subject. Furthermore, an optimization method was introduced into the simulation to propose an easy method for obtaining a rough shape of the gripping part of a product that is comfortable to grip. An objective function during the optimization process was defined to minimize the contact pressure concentration level, and this was observed to have a negative correlation with the gripping comfort. The combined method allows an engineer to evaluate the gripping comfort of a product during the design process and aids in developing a shape that can provide better gripping comfort. Additionally, the combined method can also be used to reevaluate the gripping comfort of existing products.

Ground Based Strategic Deterrent
The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) is a future American land-based intercontinental ballistic missile system (ICBM) currently in the early stages of development. It is slated to replace the aging Minuteman III missiles, currently stationed in North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska and Colorado, from 2029 through 2075. In 2020, under the Trump administration, the Department of the Air Force gave the defense contractor, Northrop Grumman, a $13.3 billion sole-source contract for development of the GBSD after Boeing withdrew its proposal. Northrop Grumman's subcontractors on the GBSD include Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Bechtel, Honeywell, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Parsons, Textron and others.

The Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) formerly known as the Ultra Light Combat Vehicle (ULCV), is a U.S. Army proposed airdroppable light off-road vehicle to improve the mobility of light infantry brigades. In March 2015, the Army changed the name of the ULCV to the Ground Mobility Vehicle. GMV is intended to be carried internally in a CH-47 Chinook or externally by a UH-60 Black Hawk. In order to be survivable but transportable, the GMV would be lightly armored and use speed, maneuverability, and off-road mobility to avoid major threats.
