With the development of the next generation of mobile networks, new research challenges have emerged, and new technologies have been proposed to address them. On the other hand, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) technology is being investigated for partially controlling wireless channels. RIS is a promising technology for improving signal quality by controlling the scattering of electromagnetic waves in a nearly passive manner. Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) are another promising technology that is designed to meet the capacity requirements of the network. RIS technology can be used to improve system performance in the context of HetNets.

Parity–Time-Symmetric Inductor–Capacitor Sensing Systems
Inductor–capacitor (LC) passive wireless sensors is usually composed of an inductor and a sensitive capacitor, whose resonant frequency is modulated by parameters of interest. An external impedance analyzer interrogates the sensors via near-field coupling to realize the purpose of passive wireless detection. Parity–time (PT) symmetry challenges the long-held theoretical basis that only Hermitian operators correspond to observable phenomena in quantum mechanics. Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians satisfying PT symmetry also have a real-valued energy spectrum. In the field of inductor–capacitor (LC) passive wireless sensors, PT symmetry is mainly used for improving performance in terms of multi-parameter sensing, ultrahigh sensitivity, and longer interrogation distance.

Sensor Topology Optimization by Applying Neural Network Configuration
In dense IoT deployments of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensor placement, coverage, connectivity, and energy constraints determine the overall network lifetime. In large-size WSNs, it is difficult to maintain a trade-off among these conflicting constraints and, thus, scaling is difficult. The neural network dynamically proposes and handles sensor placement coordinates in a 2D plane, having the ultimate goal to extend network lifetime. Simulation results show that algorithm improves network lifetime, while maintaining communication and energy constraints, for medium- and large-scale deployments.

Logic Operations Based on Memristive Devices
Memristor, as a promising computing and memory integration device, offers a new research idea for the conventional logic circuit structure and architecture innovation, given its non-volatility, scalability, low power consumption, fast switching speed, etc. A brief overview of the characteristics and current status of memoristor-based logic circuits,and analyzes their applications in numerical expression and memory were introduced here. The benefits and drawbacks of various analog logic circuit structures are summarized and compared. In addition, some solution strategies for these issues are presented. The prospects for the applications of memristors in logic implementation of large-scale memristor arrays, the novel structure of computing in-memory, and neural network computing were described.
