Data-Driven Algorithms Applied to Wave Climate Assessment
With the increasing capabilities of computational systems, reliable algorithms can be applied to a wide variety of case studies, including those found within the wave energy sector. Some of the most advanced tools are supported by Big Data and employ artificial intelligence (AI) towards estimating local wave energy resource, forecasting operational or extreme wave conditions, or filling data-gaps in wave field measurements.

Shading Calculation Methods and Regulation Simplifications
One of the “Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (SDG7). Reducing the energy demand of buildings and prioritising urban forms that reconcile energy gains simultaneously with building/energy regulations could be one solution to achieve the goal. The European Union applies a methodology to calculate the energy performance of buildings according to the common general framework determined in Annex I of the European Directive 2010/31/EU, which determines the rules regarding the formulation of the calculation used to determine the energy performance of buildings. The implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) aims to develop a common strategy towards achieving nearly zero-energy buildings (NzEB) from 2020 onwards.

Mechanical Properties of Tissue-Engineered Scaffolds for Clinical Applications
The limited regenerative capacity of the human body, in conjunction with a shortage of healthy autologous tissue, has created an urgent need for alternative grafting materials. A potential solution is a tissue-engineered graft, a construct which supports and integrates with host tissue. One of the key challenges in fabricating a tissue-engineered graft is achieving mechanical compatibility with the graft site; a disparity in these properties can shape the behaviour of the surrounding native tissue, contributing to the likelihood of graft failure.

CAES Systems Coupled with Wind Energy
With the strong advancement of the global carbon reduction strategy and the rapid development of renewable energy, compressed air energy storage (CAES) technology has received more and more attention for its key role in large-scale renewable energy access. It is shown that the coupling of wind energy and CAES is mainly combined in series and in parallel, and sometimes part of the wind power can be converted into thermal energy when coupled to CAES.
