Biologic Therapy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients
Many patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) experience a loss of effectiveness to biologic therapy (i.e., anti-TNF therapy, etc.). Therefore, in addition to the adverse effects of the treatment, these patients also face failure to achieve and maintain remission. Immunogenicity, the process of production of antibodies to biological agents, is fundamental to the evolution of loss of response to treatment in IBD patients.

Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis-Driven Hepatocarcinogenesis
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and steatohepatitis (NASH) are chronic hepatic conditions leading to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. According to the recent “multiple-parallel-hits hypothesis”, NASH could be caused by abnormal metabolism, accumulation of lipids, mitochondrial dysfunction, and oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stresses and is found in obese and non-obese patients.

Pathophysiology of Extra-Intestinal Manifestations in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), are complex multifactorial chronic inflammatory disorders affecting nearly 7 million patients worldwide, with an increasing prevalence in Northern Europe and emerging countries. IBD can be associated with a wide spectrum of extra-intestinal manifestations (EIMs) with a significant impact on patients’ quality of life. The pathophysiology of EIMs in IBD is intricate and uncertain. The European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization (ECCO) proposed an operational definition of EIMs’ pathology in IBD patients.
