The Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) is a legal document, is one of the obligatory elements of the registration dossier of a medication, and is necessary to issue a marketing authorization for a medicinal product. The obligation to draw up a Summary of Product Characteristics is laid down in several European Parliament laws. The first documents were Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and the Council relating to medicinal products for human use, and Regulation 726/2004. The document was amended several times and finally replaced in 2004 by Directive 2004/27/EC.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder of variable severity, characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behavior. Glucose
Glucose is a major macronutrient and a vital homeostatic factor in the regulation of energy metabolism maintained in a narrow range of 4.4 to 6.1 mmol/L or about 1.0 g/L in the blood of healthy humans as measured in the fasting state. However, glucose per se is not the predominant component of mixed food, and its main source in the diet is poly- and oligosaccharides, which undergo enzymatic hydrolysis to monomers in the small intestine during luminal and membrane digestion. Depending on the food composition, the site of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and time of the day, the postprandial glucose concentrations in the GIT lumen can vary in a large range and can be several times higher than in the blood.
