In the video, researchers examined the effects of the Cuprizone toxin on the myelin sheaths in mice, which shows similar histopathological features as progressive multiple sclerosis. Specifically, researchers analyzed the tryptophan metabolites in this mouse model and found that the kynurenine metabolite profile may be a promising biomarker for progressive multiple sclerosis. This discovery could be valuable in developing personalized treatment plans, which can be difficult to formulate due to the influence of immunologic components during flare-ups.
