Low-Temperature Heating for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have the advantages of high energy/power densities, low self-discharge rate, and long cycle life, and thus are widely used in electric vehicles (EVs). However, at low temperatures, the peak power and available energy of LIBs drop sharply, with a high risk of lithium plating during charging. This poor performance significantly impacts the application of EVs in cold weather and dramatically limits the promotion of EVs in high-latitude regions.

Physical Properties on Cellulose-Based Metallogels
Metallogels represent a class of composite materials in which a metal can be a part of the gel network as a coordinated ion, act as a cross-linker, or be incorporated as metal nanoparticles in the gel matrix. Cellulose is a natural polymer that has a set of beneficial ecological, economic, and other properties that make it sustainable: wide availability, renewability of raw materials, low-cost, biocompatibility, and biodegradability.

Two-Dimensional Transillumination Imaging and Functional Imaging
Imaging within the realm of biomedical applications can be categorized into two domains based on object size: macroscopic and microscopic imaging. The substantive importance of macroscopic imaging has been demonstrated prominently in medical practices, encompassing X-ray imaging, positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasonic echo imaging. Although these modalities offer undeniable utility, they are not devoid of limitations. Even with recent progress in X-ray detection, the ionizing radiation inherent to X-ray imaging engenders challenges related to repeated exposure. Similarly, the utilization of PET and MRI is impeded by the considerable scale of the necessary apparatus, thereby hindering seamless bedside deployment. The domain of ultrasound imaging presents difficulty involving a tradeoff between spatial resolution and penetration depth in animal bodies. An additional contender for noninvasive macroscopic structural imaging of animal bodies has emerged: optical imaging.

Estimation of Azimuth and Elevation using Decision Trees
Using the information obtained at a receiving system when a transmitter’s signal hits it, a Decision Tree (DT) model is trained to estimate azimuth and elevation angles simultaneously. Simulation results demonstrate the robustness of the proposed DT-based method, showcasing its ability to predict the Direction of Arrival (DOA) in diverse conditions beyond the ones present in the training dataset, i.e., the results display the model’s generalization capability.

Microservices-Based Approach for Intelligent Railway Control System Architecture
The symmetry between customer expectations and operator goals, on one hand, and the digital transition of the railways, on the other hand, is one of the main factors affecting green transport sustainability. The concept of an intelligent railway controller (IRC) is introduced as being a piece of cloud software responsible for the control and optimization of railway operations.

Blockchain-Based Certificate Authentication for International Food Trade
Maritime transportation plays a critical role for many Arab countries and their food security and has evolved into a complex system that involves a plethora of supply chain stakeholders spread around the globe. This inherent complexity brings huge security challenges, including cargo loss and high burdens in cargo document inspection. The emerging blockchain technology provides a promising tool to build a unified maritime cargo tracking system critical for cargo security. This is because blockchains are a tamper-proof distributed ledger technology that can store and track data in a secure and transparent manner.

Bridge Information Modeling and Life Cycle Assessment
Construction 4.0 is a platform that combines digital and physical technologies to enhance the design and construction of the built environment. Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM), a component of Construction 4.0′s digital technologies, streamlines construction processes and promotes collaboration among project stakeholders. A comprehensive literature review and bibliometric and content analysis are conducted on building information modeling (BIM), life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle cost (LCC), BrIM, and Bridge LCA. It investigates the potential integration of BrIM, LCA, and LCC as inputs for bridges’ LCA to enhance decision making by providing designers with detailed and interactive cost and environmental information throughout an asset’s lifecycle and explores the functionalities of Construction 4.0 and its potential influence on the economy and sustainability of bridge projects. The reviewed literature showed that the tools currently used to apply LCA and LCC methods for infrastructure assets lack the ability to identify possible integration with BrIM and hold limitations in their key functions for identifying the utmost features that need to be adopted in the creation of any tool to increase the general resilience of bridges and infrastructure.
