Applications of Lignin in Wood
Lignin is the most abundant aromatic polymer in nature and the second most abundant biomass on earth. In paper production and other processes, lignin is obtained as a side product and mainly used energetically. The use of lignin in wood adhesives or for wood modification has received a lot of scientific attention.

Applications of Liquid Crystals-Based Sensors
Liquid crystals are a class of chemical substances that exist in intermediate states between crystalline solids and liquids. They thus share the anisotropic properties of crystalline solids as well as fluid properties of isotropic liquids.

Applications of Luminescent Materials in Visible Light Communication
The growing demand for faster data transference and communication allowed the development of faster and more efficient communication network-based technologies, with wider bandwidth capability, high resilience to electromagnetic radiation, and low latency for information travelling. To provide a suitable alternative to satisfy data transmission and consumption demand, wireless systems were established after studies on this topic. Visible light communication (VLC) processes were incorporated as interesting wireless approaches that make use of a wide frequency communication spectrum to reach higher bandwidth values and accelerate the speed of data/information transmission. For this aim, light converters, such as phosphor materials, are reported to efficiently convert blue light into green, yellow, and red emissions; however, long carrier lifetimes are achieved to enlarge the frequency bandwidth, thereby delaying the data transference rate.

Applications of Magnet Integrated Fabric Phase Sorptive Extraction
In 2014, Kabir and Furton invented fabric phase sorptive extraction (FPSE), which was considered as a new breakthrough in microextraction technologies at that time, while two years later, the same research group introduced an advantageous innovative configuration of FPSE that combines stirring and extraction mechanism into a single sample preparation device, keeping all benefits originally offered by FPSE. Magnet integrated fabric phase sorptive extraction (MI-FPSE) was eventually emerged as a new, advantageous implementation of FPSE.

Applications of Magnetic Hydrogels
Magnetic hydrogels (MHGs) are a special class of hydrogel that contain at least one magnetic component in their composition. Generally, MNPs are dispersed in a polymer gel matrix to form MHGs. These hydrogels are special because they are prone to show fluctuations in their physical properties in the presence of an externally applied magnetic field.

Applications of Metal Sulfide Nanoparticles in Bioimaging
Applications of nanotechnology have expanded into different branches of the biomedical field. Efforts are continually being made towards the development of unique nanoparticles (=NPs) which can overcome limitations of traditional therapeutics and, hence, are able to improve management of diseases. Large surface area-to-volume ratios of NPs provide a platform for easy chemical functionalization for excellent interaction with biological systems. Among the broad range of NPs studied for biomedical applications, metal sulfide nanoparticles (=MxSy-NPs) have been the focus of several studies. In addition to properties found at the nanoscale, MxSy-NPs also exhibit favorable properties such as light conversion, Fenton catalysis, immune activation and radiation enhancement. The lower electronegativity of sulfur in comparison to oxygen makes MxSy-NPs naturally versatile in comparison to highly exploited metal oxide ones. The versatility of MxSy-NPs becomes evident by the fact that they can be successfully used for various applications including different types of imaging and therapy, often alone or in combination with other materials to enhance their intended application.

Applications of Metal-Organic Frameworks in Food Sample Preparation
Food samples such as milk, beverages, meat and chicken products, fish, etc. are complex and demanding matrices. Various novel materials such as molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs), carbon-based nanomaterials carbon nanotubes, graphene oxide and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been recently introduced in sample preparation to improve clean up as well as to achieve better recoveries, all complying with green analytical chemistry demands. Metal-organic frameworks are hybrid organic inorganic materials, which have been used for gas storage, separation, catalysis and drug delivery.

Applications of Metal–Organic Frameworks
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been broadly applied to numerous domains with a substantial surface area, tunable pore size, and multiple unsaturated metal sites. Hollow MOFs and their composites as well as their applications can be used in organic catalysis, electrochemical sensing, and adsorption separation.

Applications of Metallic Glasses
Metallic glasses can be a perfect alternative to conventional crystalline biomaterials (such as 316L stainless steel, Ti or Ti-based alloys, Zr or Zr-based alloys, Co-Cr alloys, etc.) when used as coatings for surgical devices and implants inside the human body. Owing to their outstanding electrocatalytic activity and durability, metallic glasses can be considered prominent candidates for energy-storage and -conversion devices, such as fuel and electrolysis cells, and batteries. Metallic-glass systems are gaining substantial momentum in the micro- and nano-imprinting of optoelectronic devices.

Applications of Micro-Sized pH Sensors
Monitoring pH changes at the micro/nano scale is essential to gain a fundamental understanding of surface processes. Detection of local pH changes at the electrode/electrolyte interface can be achieved through the use of miniaturized pH sensors. When combined with scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM), these sensors can provide measurements with high spatial resolution. This article explores the applications of miniaturized pH sensors in biological studies, corrosion science, in energy applications, and environmental research.
