Modelling the Vulnerability of Financial Accounting Systems
In times of crisis, the vulnerability of global financial markets can be considered as an element in the analysis of economic stability and sustainable development, which also indicates significant differences in the recognition of economic capital. The quality of accounting information is a significant element for investor confidence in a financial market. Under the influence of an economic crisis, the retrospective components that materialise in the accounting information that is transmitted in the form of financial reports are adjusted in relation to the prospective components of the quotations. Thus, during times of crisis, investment decisions take into account the ability of the market to remunerate investors more than confidence in the future return of investments in assets. This fair value dilemma prompted the introduction of the option for firms to switch from fair value to historical acquisition costs for the valuation of their investment portfolios in 2008.

Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency is gaining popularity worldwide, with some countries already starting to regulate and accept cryptocurrency in their financial services. Malaysia’s Securities Commission (SC) announced in October 2021 that over MYR 16 billion (USD 3.85 billion) involving digital assets and cryptocurrencies were traded between August 2020 and September 2021. Since cryptocurrencies are issued by private corporations and are technically beyond the federal government’s control, criminals may use them for illegal reasons such as money laundering and terrorist funding. Consequently, it is vital to examine why investors are engaged in cryptocurrency in the first place.

Unabsorbed Slack Resources and Enterprise Innovation
In 1963, Cyert & March defined slack resources as “the difference between total resources needed by the enterprise organization to maintain the status quo and the resources actually possessed by the organization”. There exist different forms of slack resources, such as idle machinery and equipment, surplus cash, extra employees, and semi-finished products in processing.  Technological innovation plays an important role in the success of enterprises and it is a critical factor for them to gain strong short-term market performance and long-term competitive advantage. Due to long cycles, large investments, and high adjustment costs, adequate resource support is essential to ensure the sustainability of innovation activities.
