Video Introduction

This video is adapted from 10.3390/foods8030096

Researchers are currently investigating the health effects of aroma-rich durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.). This is one of the 'smelliest' fruit to some of us but believe it or not this is one of the costliest fruit in the region. Durian production was less in the past few years due to climate change and this is the reason why it is cost so much now.

Durian is high in fat and hence contributes to its 'creamy' texture and taste. It is also high in sugar and potassium. Too much sugar can be detrimental to our health in the long run but the potassium maybe be beneficial depending on your health. Diabetic patients and those with kidney failures need  to limit their durian intake. However, general healthy population can consume durian in moderation as this will contribute to their total calorie intake.
