Fundamentals of CO2RR and Perovskite Oxides
An efficient carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR), which reduces CO2 to low-carbon fuels and high-value chemicals, is a promising approach for realizing the goal of carbon neutrality, for which effective but low-cost catalysts are critically important. Many inorganic perovskite-based materials with tunable chemical compositions have been applied in the electrochemical CO2RR, which exhibited advanced catalytic performance.

Electropolymerisation Technologies for Lithium–Sulphur Batteries
Lithium–sulphur batteries (LiSBs) have garnered significant attention as the next-generation energy storage device because of their high theoretical energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, the undesirable “shuttle effect” by lithium polysulphides (LPSs) severely inhibits their practical application. To alleviate the shuttle effect, conductive polymers have been used to fabricate LiSBs owing to their improved electrically conducting pathways, flexible mechanical properties, and high affinity to LPSs, which allow the shuttle effect to be controlled.

Electrochemical Methods for 3D Cu Current Collectors Formation
Copper current collectors (Cu CCs) impact the production technology and performance of many electrochemical devices by their unique properties and reliable operation. The efficiency of the related processes and the operation of the electrochemical devices could be significantly improved by optimization of the Cu CCs. Metallic Cu plays an important role in electrochemical energy storage and electrocatalysis, primarily as a conducting substrate on which the chemical processes take place. Li nucleation and growth can be influenced by the current collector by modulating the local current density and Li ion transport.

Metal–Organic Frameworks-Derived Metal Nanomaterials
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are used in catalysis due to their high specific surface area and porous structure. In situ electrochemical reduction is a mild and effective reduction method. For some unstable MOFs, the pretreatment process of electrochemical reduction is often accompanied by the reduction of metal ions and spontaneous aggregation to form metal nanomaterials, while the organic ligands or linkers are dissolved in the electrolyte. Compared to MOFs connected through relatively weak coordination bonds, metal nanoparticles connected by metallic bonds are significantly more conductive and stable, which effectively improves the catalyst activity and stability in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (ECO2RR). At the same time, compared with reducing agents, electrochemical reduction often retains some M-O species or organic ligands on the surface, which has an important impact on catalytic activity and stability. The structure of the MOF precursor also has an important impact on the morphology of the derived catalyst and the corresponding ECO2RR performance.

Electrochemistry of Flavonoids
Three potential regions related to flavonoid structures are characteristic of the occurrence of their electrochemical oxidation regardless of the solvent used. However, the potential values depend on the solvent used.  In the less positive potential region, flavonoids, which have an ortho dihydroxy moiety, are reversibly oxidized to corresponding o-quinones. The o-quinones, if they possess a C3 hydroxyl group, react with water to form a benzofuranone derivative (II). In the second potential region, (II) is irreversibly oxidized. In this potential region, some flavonoids without an ortho dihydroxy moiety can also be oxidized to the corresponding p-quinone methides. The oxidation of the hydroxyl groups located in ring A, which are not in the ortho position, occurs in the third potential region at the most positive values.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Cathode Materials
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are constructed from small organic molecules through reversible covalent bonds, and are therefore considered a special type of polymer. Small organic molecules are divided into nodes and connectors based on their roles in the COF’s structure. The connector generally forms reversible covalent bonds with the node through two reactive end groups. The adjustment of the length of the connector facilitates the adjustment of pore size. Due to the diversity of organic small molecules and reversible covalent bonds, COFs have formed a large family since their synthesis in 2005. Among them, a type of COF containing redox active groups such as –C=O–, –C=N–, and –N=N– has received widespread attention in the field of energy storage. The ordered crystal structure of COFs ensures the ordered arrangement and consistent size of pores, which is conducive to the formation of unobstructed ion channels, giving these COFs a high-rate performance and a long cycle life. The voltage and specific capacity jointly determine the energy density of cathode materials.

Theoretical Calculations Facilitating Catalysis for Advanced Lithium-Sulfur Batteries
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have emerged as one of the most hopeful alternatives for energy storage systems. The poor conductivity of sulfur cathodes induces sluggish redox kinetics. The shuttling of polysulfides incurs the heavy failure of electroactive substances. Tremendous efforts in experiments to seek efficient catalysts have achieved significant success.

Design of Bismuth Metal Anodes for Sodium-/Potassium-Ion Batteries
Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have drawn widespread attention for application in large-scale accumulation energy because of their plentiful resources and lower cost. However, the lack of anodes with high energy density and long cycle lifetimes has hampered the progress of SIBs and PIBs. Bismuth (Bi), an alloying-type anode, on account of its high volumetric capacity and cost advantage, has become the most potential candidate for SIBs and PIBs. Nevertheless, Bi anodes undergo significant volume strain during the insertion and extraction of ions, resulting in the crushing of structures and a volatile solid electrolyte interface (SEI).

Galium verum Extract—An Unexpected Versatility of Plant Chemistry
Corrosion inhibitors are substances that reduce or eliminate the corrosion of a metal in a certain environment. Corrosion inhibitors act by several mechanisms, including adsorption, film formation, passivation, and oxygen scavenging. Due to their toxicity, classic corrosion inhibitors affect the environment. Therefore, in recent years, more and more studies have focused on the development of eco-friendly inhibitors for the environment. In this study, ethanolic extract of Galium verum (GV) was tested for the inhibition of steel corrosion in 1 M HCl medium using electrochemical methods: open circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (PP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Reverse-phase liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (MS-GC) previous studies state that GV extract contains polyphenols and other chemical species responsible for the inhibitory effect. Corrosion investigations have highlighted the influence of the concentration of the GV extract, in the range of 50 ÷ 400 ppm G.A.E./mL, as well as the influence of temperature in the range of 20 ÷ 50 °C. The corrosion inhibitory efficiency of the Galium verum ethanolic extract had a maximum value of 91.82% for a concentration of 400 ppm polyphenol content, demonstrating the inhibitory potential of this green product in an acidic environment for mild steel. Statistical calculus on the obtained values of EIS inhibitor efficiency showed that the effect of the extract becomes stronger at higher concentrations.
