1. Introduction

Professor Dr. Igor A. Kryvoruchko was born on January 18, 1960. After completing his studies at Kharkiv Medical Institute in 1983, Professor started his medical career as a specialist in surgery. From 1983 to 2004 he worked as a surgeon-researcher and a vice-director at the Institute of General and Urgent Surgery named after V.T. Zaitsev of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Ukraine. From August 2004 to the present he has been working as a Head of the Department of Surgery No2 at Kharkiv National Medical University (Ukraine) and a head surgeon at Kharkiv Regional Hospital. In 1989 he got a PhD and in 1997 he became a doctor of medical sciences. In 2002 Dr Kryvoruchko I.A. received a professor's certificate. The Department of Surgery No. 2 of Kharkiv National Medical University, headed by Professor Igor A. Kryvoruchko, is one of the oldest, basic departments with modern equipment and leading qualified specialists. The staff of the Department of Surgery No. 2 carries out research activities in the area of "Development of surgical technologies for diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the digestive system using hybrid (open and minimally invasive) operations"; educational activities for national and English-speaking students of the 4th and 6th years of medical faculties, postgraduate students; medical and diagnostic activities for patients of the leading medical institutions of Kharkiv. Professor Igor A. Kryvoruchko became a Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology in 2009 for the development of methods for treating diseases of the pancreas. His professional skills include thoracic and abdominal surgery, vascular operations, operations in the field of diseases of the liver, extrahepatic ducts and pancreas, and colorectal surgery. Professor Igor A. Kryvoruchko has been the author and co-author of more than 900 scientific publications on various surgery problems and 42 books and textbooks for doctors and students. Professor has been an active member of the International Society of Surgery, European Pancreatic Club, World Society of Emergency Surgery, and National Surgical Unions. Kryvoruchko I.A. has been an Honored Worker of Science and Technology in Ukraine since 2021.
