Language Planning

Edit

Language planning refers to deliberate efforts by governments, institutions, or communities to influence the structure, functions, status, or acquisition of a language or language variety within a speech community [1][2]. It encompasses status planning, which concerns the social and official functions assigned to languages; corpus planning, which involves the development or modification of linguistic forms, orthographies, and terminology; and acquisition planning, which addresses language learning and transmission through educational and other institutional measures [1][2]. Language planning is studied in sociolinguistics and language policy research as a process shaped by political, social, cultural, and linguistic conditions.
