Language Editor

Edit

A language editor is a person who reviews and revises written language to improve its grammatical accuracy, spelling, punctuation, clarity, consistency, and conformity to specified linguistic or editorial conventions [1][2]. In editorial practice, language editing focuses on the linguistic expression of a text while seeking to preserve the author's intended meaning, argument, and substantive content [1]. Its scope may include correcting grammatical errors, refining sentence construction, standardizing terminology, and improving readability and textual coherence, depending on the editorial requirements and the level of intervention agreed upon [2]. A language editor is distinct from a substantive or developmental editor whose primary responsibility is to assess or restructure a work's content, argument, or overall organization, although these roles may overlap in practice.
