Language Processing

Edit

Language processing refers to the cognitive and linguistic mechanisms through which humans perceive, analyze, interpret, produce, and organize language information. Within linguistics, the concept concerns the interaction between linguistic knowledge and mental operations involved in handling different levels of language structure, including phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic information [1]. Language processing encompasses both comprehension and production processes, in which linguistic representations are accessed, constructed, and transformed during communication. It is distinguished from related concepts such as language description, which focuses on the analysis of linguistic structures, and language acquisition, which concerns the development of linguistic knowledge over time [2].
