Discourse Linguistics

Edit

Discourse linguistics is a branch of linguistics concerned with the structure, interpretation, and use of language beyond the level of isolated sentences, including the organization of connected spoken or written language and its relationship to communicative context [1][2]. It examines how linguistic forms contribute to coherence, cohesion, interaction, and the interpretation of meaning across utterances and texts. Unlike approaches restricted to sentence-level grammar, discourse linguistics considers linguistic structures in relation to their sequential organization, communicative functions, and contextual conditions of use [1][2].
