Sustainable Economic Development
Edit

Sustainable economic development is a development framework that examines how economic systems can achieve long-term improvements in human well-being while maintaining the ecological and resource conditions necessary for future generations[1]. Within economics and socio-economic development studies, the concept integrates economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social welfare considerations by emphasizing the preservation of comprehensive wealth, including produced capital, human capital, and natural capital [2]. Unlike conventional economic development approaches that primarily evaluate progress through increases in income or output, sustainable economic development considers whether economic trajectories can maintain or enhance overall societal well-being over time [2][3]. It involves the analysis of long-term resource allocation, intertemporal welfare, technological change, institutional arrangements, and the relationship between economic activity and environmental constraints [3]. In economics and econometrics, sustainable economic development is distinguished from general sustainable development by focusing specifically on the economic mechanisms, growth processes, and resource dynamics that determine whether development paths remain viable over time.
