Their silver-gray fur, torpedo-shaped bodies, and distinctively marked pelts make them easily recognizable among seal species.

Hooded Seals are highly adapted to their cold, aquatic environment, possessing specialized features such as thick blubber layers for insulation and large, powerful flippers for efficient swimming.
