1. Introduction

Dr. Debasis Mitra is an Indian Researcher, known for his numerous contributions to the application and formulation of beneficial plant growth-promoting microorganisms at the laboratory and field level for sustainable crop production, protection and development. Dr. Debasis Mitra is currently working as an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Microbiology, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India.  

2. Academic Achievements

He earned his Ph. D. degree in Microbiology from Raiganj University, Raiganj, West Bengal, India and ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI), Cuttack, Odisha, India and also worked in ICAR-NRRI, India under DBT, Govt. of India project.

He received his M.Sc. Biotechnology degree from Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), India and B.Sc. Biotechnology degree from Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Vidyasagar University, India.

He is an alumnus researcher of Division of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, India. Dr. Mitra completed his virtual doctoral internship at Agroenvironmental and Health Biotechnology Laboratory, Universidad de Santander, Colombia.

He earned online course certificates on "Microbiology and Forensic Science" from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan; "Climate Change" from Macquarie University, Australia and "Agriculture and the World We Live In" from Massey University, New Zealand in the year 2018.

He has published several research and review papers in various high-impact peer-reviewed journals of national and international repute, contributed books, book chapters, newsletter, research technical bulletin, extended-summary, technology, e-Publication, and popular articles in leading magazines and journals.

Dr. D Mitra is awarded as Dignitary Fellow of International Organization for Academic and Scientific Development (FMIOASD), Fellow of Scholars Academic and Scientific Society (FSASS), received best editor award in "Indian Journal of Microbiology Research", and best reviewer of the year 2022 in "Current Agriculture Research Journal" & "Biomedical and Pharmacology Journal" and ranked 5th (2022) & 3rd (2023-2024) in World Scientist and University Rankings 2022, 2023 by AD Scientific Index.

He has developed "Cocopeat with rice husk and saw dust compost as a nursery medium for growing vegetable seedlings" at ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, India and as one of the co-author, developed "Microbial consortium (MC) for pest and disease management in rice-horticulture based cropping system in Sikkim and Bio-fertilizer consortium (BC) for nutrient management in rice-horticulture based cropping system in Sikkim" at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, India. He has attended several national and international conferences/webinars/ seminar/ workshop symposium/ lectures.

He is a member of International Association for Agricultural Sustainability, American Association for Science and Technology, South American Mycorrhizal Research Network, GEO BON: Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network, Society for the Study of Evolution and International Association of Oncology.

Dr. Mitra has been appointed as editor, Academic Editor, review editor, guest editor or editorial board member in Asian Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, Journal of Basic and Applied Pharmaceutical Science, Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, BioMed Research International – Microbiology, Indian Journal of Microbiology Research, Open Soil Science and Environment, International Journal of Sustainable Agricultural Research, American Journal of Agricultural Science, Engineering, and Technology, Applied Research in Science and Technology, Journal of Plant Sciences, Acta Scientific Biotechnology and Microbiology.

Additionally, he served as special issue lead editor, guest editor, guest editor assistant, topic coordinator and more than 60 journal reviewers. His research is focused on Plant-Microbe Interactions, Mycorrhizal interactions, Nanotechnology, Soil Microbiology, Plant Stress, Bio-control, Molecular Biology and Strigolactones.
