1. Brief introduction

My name is Montserrat Fernández-Guarino, I am dermatologist in Madrid, Spain. I have studied medicine and I am specialist, however I have so many more interest. Among the intellectual fields, I am graduated in Psychology, and coursed different master´s degree, in nutrition, medical nutrition in diseases, sports injury rehabilitation and pharmacy office.

Summary of the present position:

-Staff Dermatologist at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal, Madrid (2008-present)

-Tutor of Dermatologist residents and residents of other medical specialist (Internal Medicine, Immunology, Allergy).

-Coordinator of Emergencies in Dermatology of the Hospital.

-Head of the Hospitalization in Dermatology.

-Consultant of investigation in Photodynamic therapy.

- Part-time private practice in General, Dermatology in my own Clinic (Madriderma)

2. Story about Notable Contributions

Prof Montserrat Fernández-Guarino is a Specialist in Dermatology since 2008. Trained in Ramón y Cajal Dermatology Service, she obtained the Doctoral Thesis with Cum Laude and was selected as the "Extraordinary Thesis award" as the best thesis of the year in Alcala University.

Dra Fernández-Guarino is certified in Psychology and has four different Master degrees focused on health assistance as nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation and hospital management.

Dra Fernández-Guarino is accredited by the National Spanish Education Ministry as a Professor of Medical University (ANECA). This accreditation is based in special selected criteria and allows to be professor of quality in the University. She is now Professor of Dermatology in the Medicine Faculty of Alfoso X El Sabio University and director of Final Degree Project.

Principal publications/works

She has developed as a Principal investigator and as a collaborator, different investigation research in partnership with industry and in competitive calls in private and public calls mainly focused on Photodynamic Therapy, Cancer Prevention and Photobiology.

Prof Fernández-Guarino has more than 100 research articles published indexed in Pubmed. The main investigations are focused on light therapies, including photodynamic therapy and phototherapy. Basic works accomplished her career, with the objetive of improve communication with basics and search aplicable conclusion in the management of patients and physical therapies. Implications for sciences and humanities

Dra Fernández-Guarino is the author of a web called: Madriderma (www.madriderma.com) which is also her personal brand and the name of her Private Clinic.

The website madriderma.com is positioned as the twelfth page in visits received in health issues in Spain and is consulted worldwide in Spanish language speaking countries with more than 60.000 visits every day. The web was created to disseminate the knowledge of dermatology to everyone in everywhere with a scientific background. Besides, most of the patients’ questions received during the consultation by Prof. Montserrat Fernandez Guarino are answered.

The private Clinic Madriderma is situated in two different places in Madrid and three dermatologists are collaborating with Prof. Montserrat Fernández Guarino. The Clinic is mainly dedicated to clinical and general dermatology, surgery, dermatologic procedures, and laser. A great numerous of patients are treated and followed by an hybrid system of presential and online consultation.
