One of the fundamental principles of the European society is the freedom of movement for people within the European Union (EU) member states. The Erasmus+ programme was launched in 1987 and since then, it has had over 12 million mobility participants. Erasmus+ provides exclusive chances for students and staff in higher education and in schools, as well as for trainees, adult learners, young people, youth workers and sport staff, to study, train, work, or volunteer across the EU. Nevertheless, insufficient language skills continue to hinder people’s participation in education, training and youth programmes within the EU. As communication through language plays a vital role in mutual understanding and comprehension, promoting and supporting sustainable language learning for Erasmus+ mobility participants is critical.
