Video Introduction

The research on silicon chemistry have increased over the years due to the great importance of silyl compounds and their applications in industry, in academy and materials science fields. The silicon-silicon and the silicon-hydrogen bonds can be activated by transition and other p-block metals, being the most important pathways for obtaining molecular entities that contain, witihin their structures, silane motifs. Although the chemistry of Si-H bond activation is under continue development, Si-Si bonds are poorly characterized and less used and thus, disilanes represent good starting precursors because of their stability towards ambient conditions.
