This video aims to boost the capacitance of electroactive polymer (EAP) strain sensors by incorporating a stretchable polymer film and a conducting polymer to create a controlled conductivity hybrid dielectric film. Using styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) rubber as the base material and dodecyl benzene sulfonate anion (DBSA)-doped polyaniline (PANI) as a filler, a composite conducting film is produced. The SEBS Rubber's maleic anhydride group and DBSA form a stable dispersion in Toluene, resulting in a free-standing stretchable film through solution casting. The addition of DBSA-doped polyaniline enhances the film's conductivity and dielectric constant, significantly increasing the capacitance of the EAP-based strain sensor, with capacitance values ranging from 24.7 to 100 µF for strains from 0 to 100%. The sensor demonstrates a sensitivity of 3 at a 100% strain level.
