This video introduces a visible light-mediated synthesis of 2,3-chalcogenil-dihydrobenzofuran through the oxyselenocyclization of 2-allylphenols in the presence of chalcogenides. Emphasizing sustainability, this method is notably enhanced by proceeding under mild conditions, facilitated by a straightforward I2/SnCl2 as a promoter and blue LED irradiation to activate the process. A variety of functional groups were effectively tolerated under the developed approach, leading to the desired products with yields ranging from good to excellent, demonstrating in this way the versatility of the method. In addition, the synthesized compounds were characterized using 1H and 13C NMR techniques.
