Chronic pain in children is complex, requiring personalized care that addresses both physical and emotional challenges. A new study explored a targeted approach using the Pediatric Pain Screening Tool (PPST) to guide physiotherapy interventions for kids aged 8–17. By stratifying participants into low, medium, or high-risk groups, therapists tailored treatments to each child’s needs. After just 8 weeks, significant improvements were seen: pain intensity dropped sharply, daily activities became easier, and anxiety and fear related to pain decreased—especially in high-risk cases. Notably, 80% of kids, including all high-risk participants, reported feeling “a great deal better.” These promising results suggest that combining PPST risk assessment with multimodal physiotherapy could offer a structured, effective way to help children reclaim their lives from chronic pain.
