Video Introduction

This video is adapted from 10.3390/antiox10122001

The therapeutic effect of the combination of Akkermansia muciniphila and the flavonoid quercetin is presented as an approach to the management of early obesity and fatty liver disease. The results demonstrate that the synbiotic treatment produces additional and significant benefits on gut microbiota and in bile acids and lipid metabolism pathways, which in turn may be essential to improve non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and obesity development in an in vivo model.
