Prof. Dr. Piergiuseppe Morone is Full Professor of Economic Policy at Unitelma Sapienza with a strong interest in green innovation and sustainable development pushing his research at the interface between innovation economics and sustainability transitions, an area of enquiry that has attracted growing attention over the last decade. His work regularly appears in prestigious innovation and environmental economics journals.
He is coordinator of STAR-ProBio, an H2020 research project aiming at developing sustainability assessment tools for bio-based products and promote their market penetration.
Prof. Morone is head of the Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group, a research unit at Unitelma Sapienza involved in research concerning the emergence of a circular and bio-based economy.
He is member of the Editorial Boards of Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry (ELSEVIER) and Open Agriculture (De Gruyter Open) and acts as Guest Editor for various journal including the Journal of Cleaner Production (ELSEVIER) and Sustainability (MDPI).
Prof. Morone is Economic Advisor of the Italian Minister of the Environment, Land and Sea Protection.

Prof. Dr. Massimiliano Mazzanti is Full Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Ferrara. He researches the economic, social and environmental effects of policies on development, labour, innovation and ecological issues.
He is the Director of the Interuniversity Centre SEEDS (www.sustainability-seeds.org) and CERCIS research centre on circular economy innovation and SMEs. He has directed research units of EU projects: FP7 Choosing Efficient Combinations of Policy Instruments for Low-carbon Development and Innovation to Achieve Europe’s 2050 Climate Targets (www.cecilia2050.eu) and Horizon2020 Green.eu (http://www.inno4sd.net/Team/). Currently he is part of the Waste and Materials in a Green Economy project funded by the EEA (https://www.eionet.europa.eu/etc-wmge).

Prof. Dr. Nicolas Béfort received his PhD in Economic Sciences from University of Reims Champagne Ardenne. Nicolas’s research investigates emergence and structure of a bio-economy. Nicolas worked with Nova-Institut (Hürth, Germany) which is specialized in bio-economy and supports the European Commission on economic and techno-economic studies for the transition towards the use of bio sourced materials. He also participated in the “CO2-Dissolved” project related to a post-doctoral contract with the Economic Laboratory of Orléans. He develops research at the frontier between ecological economics, innovation economics and the transition to sustainability studies. Thus, he develops research on the organisation modes of the biorefineries, on transition to the Bioeconomy policies and on resource management in the transition to sustainability. Nicolas is professor of economics in the Finance Department (Campus Reims), he is a member of the Industrial BioEconomy Chair, he is in charge of the academic development of the Chair.
