Dr. Elfouly (M’ 06, SM’ 13) Obtained his Msc and PhD degrees from BESANÇON University (FRANCHE-COMTÉ) in 1996 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Elfouly has over 16 years of experience in Wireless Sensor Networks and computer network research. He published over 80 papers, most of them are related to wireless sensing and network security. He also has 3 US awarded patents. He has managed to secure more than three million dollars of funds for his research in collaboration with many universities in the United States, Canada and Europe such as Ohio state University, New Jersey institute of technology, University of British Columbia, and Imperial College of London. He worked on topics related to network security and physical layer security. He has also worked on applications of wireless sensor networks, especially in the field of structural health monitoring and health applications. His team had implemented a sensor node that can harvest energy from vibrations while installed on infrastructures such as bridges with an easy installation process on old infrastructures. Dr. Elfouly has a few projects under development related to Machine learning and eHealth. His projects won many national and regional awards in Qatar. Dr. Elfouly supervised many post graduate students and served as an examiner for many others. Beside his research, Dr. Elfouly has 20 years of teaching experience. He has taught courses in hardware, programming and networks. He has supervised more than 20 senior projects and 6 Theses. He served as computer engineering program coordinator at Qatar University for more than 6 years. Dr. Elfouly is a senior member of the IEEE society. He is currently an associate professor at Tennessee technological University.
