This review summarizes the current evidence regarding the effect of vitamin K supplementation on vascular calcification and stifness in chronic kidny disease patients. Vitamin K, through activation of the natural calcification inhibitor Matrix Gla Protein, is hypothesized to abbrogate the mineralization process.
