Neuroscience Education: History
Please note this is an old version of this entry, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Neuroscience education is the educational domain that teaches foundational and applied knowledge about the nervous system, brain function, and brain–behavior relationships for academic, clinical, or professional learning contexts [1][2][3][4]. It includes structured learning on neural anatomy, neurophysiology, cognition, development, and methods used to study the brain (e.g., imaging and electrophysiology), as well as how this knowledge is interpreted in educational and health-related settings [1][2]. Neuroscience education is characterized by integration of biological science with psychological and learning sciences, emphasis on evidence-based interpretation, and explicit attention to avoiding neuromyths or unsupported brain-based claims [2][3][4]. In practice and research, the term denotes a formal instructional field focused on building neuroscience literacy and translational understanding, rather than general science teaching without specific focus on neural mechanisms [1][2][3][4].
