Dr. Escobar-Chávez is a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy; Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He joined the faculty in 1998. He has completed two postdoctoral research, one at the University of Valencia, Spain and the other in Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. He also made a doctoral stay at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
His research interests are in the Topical and Transdermal delivery of drugs and include the use of the tape stripping technique, the use of TEWL, chemical enhancers and physical enhancers as microneedles, iontophoresis, sonophoresis and electroporation. Mucosal and ocular delivery systems and nanotechnology in transdermal drug delivery are others major research interests. He is author of 12 book chapters. He is editor of 3 books. He has 35 publications in indexed journals, and he has 7 patents. He won the 2014,2016,2017 and 2022 CANIFARMA prize awarded by the National Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry in Mexico.
