Dr. Nikolaos Papadakis is an accomplished mechanical engineer with a strong educational background and extensive work experience. He began his academic journey by completing his secondary education at the 2nd General Lyceum of Heraklion, Crete, from 1989 to 1992.
Driven by a passion for engineering, Dr. Papadakis pursued a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, from 1992 to 1997. During his undergraduate studies, he specialized in Industrial Management and Production, achieving an grade point average of 7.49. His diploma thesis, supervised by Professor G. Tagaras, focused on "Systems of Periodic Inspection Inventories with Emergency Orders," aiming to optimize inventory management processes.
To further expand his knowledge and skills, Dr. Papadakis pursued a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the renowned Warwick Manufacturing Group, School of Engineering, University of Warwick, UK. He successfully completed this program in 1998, during which he conducted research on the dynamic behavior and failure modes of discrete joint systems in the axial crushing of metallic members using the explicit Finite Element (FE) method.
After completing his master's degree, Dr. Papadakis embarked on his professional career. From 1998 to 2002, he pursued a Ph.D. in Engineering at the Warwick Manufacturing Group, School of Engineering, University of Warwick, UK. His doctoral research focused on the characterization of strain rate effects in a unidirectional thermoplastic composite material, contributing to a deeper understanding of the material's behavior under varying loading rates.
Upon completing his Ph.D., Dr. Papadakis gained valuable industry experience working as a Development Manager at Mechatron ABEE from June 2011 to August 2013. In this role, he designed and developed solar trackers for concentrated photovoltaic systems, conducted structural analyses, and contributed to the creation of experimental setups. His work also involved software development and the translation of technical documents into English.
From July 2017 to February 2019, Dr. Papadakis served as an external collaborator at Revmotiv Technology Co. During this period, he focused on dynamic simulation, algorithm design, microprocessor programming, and durability analysis, contributing to the optimization of vehicle systems.
From September 2014 to December 2019, Dr. Papadakis worked as a Research Engineer at IΤΕ-ΙΗΔΛ, where he contributed to research on attosecond physics. His responsibilities included developing measurement programs, designing mechanical devices and chambers, and analyzing data.
Since December 2019, Dr. Papadakis has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hellenic Mediterranean University. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he conducts research in various fields of engineering and science.
