Dr. Udhayakumar Kaithamalai is working as professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai, India. He has been working in this University on various cadres viz. Teaching and Research Associate, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor (currently) from the August 2001. He had a previous teaching experience for about one and half year in 2000-2001 from Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, India.
He is having expertise in the diversified fields of Electrical and Electronics Engineering viz, Control Systems, Sensors, Instrumentation, Power engineering, Micro Electro Mechanical Systems and in areas like Machine learning & Artificial Intelligence.

During this professional journey, he has undertaken various assignments and responsbilities not only academically but also in Research, Administration and in extension and outreach domains in the Department and University levels. He also served as a Deputy Director in the Centre for University and Industry Collaboration of Anna University for 8 years from the year 2014 to 2018, where in he has collaborated with various industries for the placement of University students, Skill development, Career guidance and CSR initiatives. More than 5000 students have got benefitted either directly or indirectly out of these collaborations.
He has published 28 technical papers in peer-reviewed reputed journals and more than 25 papers in national and international conference proceedings, Lecture notes and Editorial book chapters which are referred and cited by researchers across the globe.
