Geologic Map of the Eddyville Quadrangle: History Edit
Subjects: Geology

The Eddyville Quadrangle has seen much activity in the 20th century in mining and herding but not in manufacturing nor in agriculture. The current built structure is limited to a few graveled roads. There are few wells and springs. No geothermal energy has been developed nor wind nor solar power although all three are suitable for development. All currently used buildings are just outside the area.

This project is to locate where there are valuable minerals, to understand the productive capacity of the soils in terms of water, pH, nutrients, and composition, to understand the special hazards of violent changes to the surface from volcanism, debris flows, and landslides, and to understand the special benefits and costs in the quadrangle from anthropogenic activities.

The Eddyville Quadrangle is immediately to the East of the Sodaville Quadrangle in Nevada. It includes part of Mineral and Esmeralda Counties. The surficial geology was mapped.

No new formations nor resources were located.

The geology supports conducting more mining activity and adding renewable power production.
