Evaluation Index System for Community Recovery Following the Wenchuan Earthquake: History Edit
Subjects: Transportation

The community recovery processes in Dujiangyan, Beichuan, and Wenchuan following the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake exhibited distinct differences and characteristics. Consequently, the methods employed to evaluate the community reconstruction and recovery performances throughout the earthquake-affected areas received substantial attention internationally. However, the existing evaluation systems for post-disaster reconstruction practices are mostly generalized models, and thus, the actual differences among various reconstruction modes and local characteristics are given insufficient attention. Based on a thorough review of the literature and expert judgments, this article focuses on the introduction of evaluation factors comprising the opinions of disaster victims. Based on their own requirements, this article selects the factors deemed most important according to the victims’ concerns. In conjunction with principal component analysis and further quantitative methods, this article summarizes the homogeneities and heterogeneities of the three different areas.
